On Friday, a reporter in Colorado Springs asked Vice President Candidate Paul Ryan about medical cannabis. He had to comment because grassroots advocates like you are making medical cannabis apart of the national dialogue– an issue that the media and candidates can no longer ignore.
Thank you to almost one thousand members of Americans for Safe Access (ASA) who are doing their part at Camp WakeUpObama, http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=mmqjoc6Dtw9EPZ2eYckCj6%2BuRpE6DqWl - ASA’s election-season campaign to push the Obama Administration towards a more reasonable and compassionate policy. There are only 56 days left until the election. Will you join other medical cannabis patients and advocates at Camp WakeUpObama?
The Presidential election is a rare opportunity to shine a national media spotlight on federal medical cannabis policy. In 2008, we helped persuade then-candidate Barack Obama to say he would not continue former President Bush’s policies. But when the spotlight faded and the press stopped asking questions, the Obama Administration went silent on the issue. You know the results of that – more raids, intimidation, forfeiture, and prosecutions. We need to make medical cannabis reform a priority again.
The good news is that it is working. Medical cannabis is back on the election radar because advocates like you are making it an issue. The bad news is that time is short. We only have 56 more days to pressure candidate Obama. Your participation is crucial. So is your support. We need more proactive media, more grassroots organizing, more capacity to tell our story on the national stage. We need more legal work, like our federal rescheduling lawsuit that we will argue in court next month. In short, we need the resources to make it happen.
Can you help today by making a special contribution of $35, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to be sure we can make the most of the next 56 days?

You can see that we can make a difference. Your support right now will help ensure we can keep doing it. Thank you for doing your part!
