"Know that you have a wide social group and seriously hope that you've already heard back from all kinds of people. Because the whole story is extremely well presented on many levels and totally deserves the recognition. It's clear that you've invested a lot of time, mind and heart into this project. Know the path hasn't exactly been without obstacles, thanks for sticking with it. Thanks also for using the medium to tell a thought-provoking story. Oh and you have some pretty awesome storyboarding art skills. And I mean that sincerely. Enjoyed seeing those in the extra pages.
Uhm... Philosopher that you are, perhaps you are aware that the study of energy is not a new thing and nor is it entirely fictional. Am not sure if the specific semi-selective ability which afflicts your characters in the story actually exists but variations do. From what I understand... When people make decisions - especially strongly emotional decisions - that energy(whether positive or negative) does tend to leave an imprint on them. So each person carries within their own aura the marks of their decisions and since the aura is the part of the soul which is most often projected outward... These marks are something that can be percieved, though not always directly or with the vision alone. And being able to percieve such vibrations is not always a special psychic skill - though their style of training often improves sensitivity and interpretation - but a basic survival skill. It is perhaps comparable to going to the beach and being able to see the marks left on the land by the tide.
And you're right, it's not always a great thing to have such an awareness. Not even on a nowhere-near-regular basis.
You're also right about the first impulses. But justice is a tricky subject. Because maybe the bad people sincerely believe that justice is on their side, too. And maybe sometimes it is. And even if it isn't, we're all connected... So the damages that we might wish to do to others can always ultimately hurt us, as well.
Everything happens for a reason. The world is full of hurt, yes but... I think perhaps the reason that so much hurt exists in the world is to challenge us to become better healers. After all, darkness - internal, external, metaphorical or otherwise - is not truly the absence of light but the placement of light. The amount of focus and energy we put into the darkness... Sometimes that is all that we can choose and no, the choice is not always easy. *shrugs*"
