Post Question of the week: November 4th, 2012

Well this thread is belated but I'll do it anyway with the hope of promoting more discussion on these forums. Just to be clear, though... These topics are for everyone and so hey, if someone else wants to be the one ask a question next week - go ahead.

The week of November 4th marked the end of the presidential elections in America and so it left me wondering: How do you feel about the governments ability to represent the population?

The two parties in this country never get it right. I would like to see a middle class citizen try to run for office. But they couldn't because it takes a good amount of money to run a campain (I don't know the correct spelling, but I like this better). So the interests of the middle class never really get addressed because the polictians in Washington really don't know how it feels to live paycheck to paycheck, or having to struggle to pay for certain things. And they really never will.

Our government isn't in full control. Elections are predetermined. There is a group of people that control the whole world. Presidents might as well be called actors. They follow orders. What's the main reason for controlling the whole world? Of course money and power. The long term goal? A one world government. And it will happen. Just as it says in revelations in the bible, there will be a one world government before the world ends. That's an extremely short answer though.

i think that all an election really is is a glorified popularity contest, and that the government has no real interest in helping the american people they just want the power over us

RVD2K12 - Have heard of that conspiracy theory before and don't know if I believe it. Yes, businesses and other organizations with large amounts of money do influence goverments on all levels. But because each of these businesses and organizations tend to have their own agendas, it would actually surprise me if a one world government ever ends up being the result. Come to think of it, a one world government might not be an entirely bad thing. It wouldn't be likely to be an entirely good thing, either, of course but... Yeah.

Everyone else - Agreed. Politicians seem to be out of touch. They care more about chasing money than people and they're supposed to be representing people. All the people. Not just the people who make eight digits plus, even while sleeping. I think they've forgotten about that.

It would be nice if more ordinary citizens could afford to run for office - but then again if they got the job, the work environment would probably corrupt them. It would be nice if the checks and balances system actually worked but that system was put in place just over two hundred years ago, so it's prolly outdated. Congress is not likely to ever give up the ability to vote themselves a payraise, among other things.

Still... We've seen this country make changes before, so we've got to hang on to the hope that it can happen again. If enough people demand change... It will have to come, eventually.

RVD2k12, if you really want to know when I will like you, here is your answer (like you don't already know). WHEN YOU ARE GONE! When you are gone far, far away from me and this website then, and only then, might I like you. Except not even then would I even consider liking you after all the hell you have tried to put me and this website through. I wouldn't even like you if you were on the South Pole and I was on the North Pole cuz that's just not far enough away for me. I would only like the fact that you were gone. Why don't you pack your sick felon convict ass up, Art, Derek, or whatever name you are using these days, and get the hell out before you are arrested because each time you post here I am one step closer to proving who you are (and you are one step deeper in criminal fraud charges). Do you hear me, you sorry excuse for a human being? It's really good that your lil partner, Liyoki, has already left. She needs to stay that way.
