Hello Everyone!

I am sooo very excited! Today I found out that everything is going to go thru, and I am now going to be the extremely proud owner of my very own house! Yay me, yay me, yay me! I've never bought my own home before, with my own money that I earned and saved up, so this is a first for me, and I could not be more excited!

I'm actually buying the house that I've been renting and living in for the last three years. The owner expressed an interest in wanting to sell it, I made him an offer, and he accepted it. It sits on 4 acres of wooded land, and has three bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. It needs a little bit of fixing up, but that's okay because I can work on it and make it totally mine. Nothing major tho, and I've already started. I made a huge down payment, and the owner gave me credit for some of the rent I've paid over the last three years, and I don't owe much at all on the house to get it paid off. I can actually have it paid off in five years.

I'm so so happy that I just wanted to share my happiness with everyone here. Like I said, this is a big first for me, and I've never gotten to buy a house of my very own before. All of y'all that own your own homes know how I feel. This is so wonderful. Dreams do come true! Please be happy for me! I wish happiness for every single one of you like I feel right now.

I feel happy for you. Me I have two homes. One is my home and the other I go to when I don't have to work. You should see my second home it has a hot tub with jets and a tv by the hot tub. Sadly right now I might not be able to go their for three years due to work. I hate my new GM. But I'm going to try to not bitch about him to much.

Hello Everyone!

Well, I've got a couple of projects that I am working on at my house to start with my remodel. I've got one going one inside, and one going on outside. My big master bathroom inside, which is coming along nicely. I've pretty much gotten everything done that I can do myself. Now I need to hire someone to retile the top of my garden size bathtub and the wall around it, and do some custom painting for me. Outside I'm looking for someone to do some excavating work leveling some land, taking down some small trees, brush, etc., so I can get a privacy fence built between me and my neighbors (long story).

Here's the problem I'm having. I really like to help people out. And when I decided I was going to do all this work, I decided I wanted to use people from my own community who needed and wanted to work. Not big companies, but individual people who had maybe been layed off from their jobs and needed work to support their families. So I picked up our County want ads paper where people post miscellaneous stuff like handyman ads, construction workers, electricians, all looking for work. Along with yard sales, puppies, stuff for sale, that type of stuff. I wanted to hire these people and give them work. So anyway, everytime I call someone, they are all enthusiastic on the phone, but then they either show up two hours late for the estimate, or don't show up at all. Or they do the estimate, and I like them and check their references, ask them to do the job, and they never come back. WTF? I'm so frustrated. These people say they want to work, and they need to work, and I'm trying to give them work, but once again, WTF???

I guess I'll keep trying because I really do want to help put money back into my own community and help someone who needs it. Maybe I just haven't found the right people yet. But it really is frustrating.

Since my post, I have found a really good excavator. He showed up on time for his appointment with me, has all his own equipment, and gave me a good price on what I want to do. I checked his references, including his last employer, and they are all good. He was layed off from his job over a year ago due to lack of work, and now he and his wife are relying on her income as a nurse and he was making really good money. I can imagine they are really struggling just to make it month to month the way he talked.

This is the type of person I want to work with. We talked for a really long time, walked around my land, and I told him that if I liked his work on this one small project that I will have him back to do some other things for me. Most of my four acres are raw land with lots of woods. After I get my fence built, I want to clear out the entire area in front of my house all the way to road and plant grass and have a really pretty front lawn. I have a small front lawn now, but the rest of it is just small trees and weeds and brush and you can't see my house from the road. Then I can get him to work on my back yard, which is another 2 acres back there. I'd like to have some back yard back there, but still keep some of my wooded area to explore and look at. So I can keep him busy for a while.

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I really liked this guy, and I think I scored with this one.
