Hi,

There are all kinds of art in the world. Cooking is an art. Drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, photo editing... Sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, beadwork, leatherwork, weaving, flower arranging, interior design, costume design, design in general... Writing, composing, playing an instrument, dancing... Everything from architecture to martial arts and beyond.

So my theory is that, in some small way, probably most everyone on the planet is some kind of artist. And this humble little thread can be a gathering place for us. Because being around art tends to help inspire art. So if you want to share or plug/link to your own creations - please do. If you're stuck and need someone to brainstorm with, maybe we can help. Want to talk about your teachers and what inspires you? That's be great!

What does art mean to you? What's your muse? What's your medium?

... Hrm. Interesting. True, many artists do consider their faith to be a source of inspiration. Also true, even artists who don't have, want or need religion do consider nature to be inspiring.

... It always kind of surprises me, the ease with which people can associate a gender to their idea of the divine.

Also, I am reminded of peoples willingness to overlook circular logic. Most religions are in a rush to give god credit for everything which exists in nature - good, bad and inbetween. But what created god? If god is, in any way at all, a product of the collective human imagination... Then isn't humankind also entitled to take some of the credit for the beauty which exists in nature? *shrugs* Agree or disagree as you choose, of course but this is perhaps worthy of consideration.
