Post ASA suing Government, Rally UP!
on: November 19, 2011, 23:10

There is a lot going on with medical cannabis in California right now. Our local, state, and federal representatives are speaking up (http://safeaccessnow.org/blog/?p=2034)

in opposition to the new federal crackdown. Just last week, almost three hundred protesters gathered in Sacramento - http://safeaccessnow.org/article.php?id=6945 - including Assembly member Tom Ammiano (D-SF) and Board of Equalization Member Betty Yee – to oppose the federal crackdown and ask our representatives to stand up for patients!

Americans for Safe Access (ASA) and others are suing the federal government (http://safeaccessnow.org/article.php?id=6921) and we are getting our message out in the media. All around the state, ASA chapters and affiliates are getting trained in our new Advocates Training Center - http://americansforsafeaccess.org/section.php?id=385 - and taking action in their communities. Patients are organizing rallies, supporting sensible regulations, opposing bans, and even launching voter initiatives and referendums.

It is a lot to keep up with, so Americans for Safe Access (ASA) is re-launching the “California Weekly Roundup.” This once-a-week email will collect relevant news and give ASA members and friends important updates on action alerts, meetings, and special events. The California Weekly Roundup was an important education and organizing tool a few years ago, so I am sure it will be more useful than ever now.

We need your help to be sure that all of the latest news, meetings, and events are listed. Please send us short emails about meetings and events before 12:00 PM (PST) each Wednesday to be included in the weekly email, which will be sent on Friday. We would also like to hear about medical cannabis issues in your community that are not being reported in the media – i.e. bans, moratoria, or regulations for patient’s coops; law enforcement activity; etc. Just include the basics – who, what, when, where, and why. We also need your contact information. There is no need to send media stories. We get those already!

Send items for the California Weekly Roundup to CARoundup@SafeAccessNow.org before 12:00 PM each on Wednesday. Read more about the California Weekly Roundup online http://americansforsafeaccess.org/article.php?id=6958

.This is going to be a great tool for communicating and coordinating our statewide efforts. Thanks for helping ASA keep the grassroots base informed and active!

P.S. – Remember that ASA can only do work like this because of your ongoing support!!!
